Musicians’ Rehabilitation
How We Treat Musicians’ Injuries
Dr. Hope Hampton will perform a thorough evaluation to determine the probable cause of your injury. An ergonomic assessment of your playing technique will be completed to determine if your playing technique or posture may need to be adjusted based on your injury. She will also ask about your medical history and your lifestyle habits, such as diet and exercise. A detailed history of your playing and practice habits will also be obtained. Based on Hope’s evaluation, she will develop a plan of care that provides you with recommendations on how to modify practice and performance and how to adjust your instrument fit and playing posture to improve your body mechanics.
Follow Up Appointments
At follow up appointments, you will be provided with instrument-specific technique practice based on your needs and a home exercise program that is tailored to your injury. Dr. Hope Hampton will likely perform manual therapy techniques, which could include soft tissue mobilization, augmented soft tissue mobilization (ASTYM®), and joint mobilization or manipulation. These techniques will be followed by in-clinic exercises designed to address the underlying physical causes of your injury. She will provide you with education around practice and posture to ensure you are able to return to playing pain free.
