About Dr. Hope Hampton, DPT , OCS, CMPT, CLTI started this clinic because I believed patients deserved more.
More time. More attention. More answers. And if you're a musician, a provider who truly gets it.
My Story
I've been a violinist for over 25 years. I studied music at Boise State University, played in string quartets and community orchestras, and spent years in the world of classical performance. I loved it — and I also watched musicians around me get hurt and receive care that clearly came from providers who had never held a bow, never practiced four hours a day, and didn't understand the physical and emotional toll of playing through an injury.
That gap stuck with me. When I decided to pursue physical therapy, I knew I wanted to build something different — a clinic where musicians could come and feel genuinely understood, and where every patient, musician or not, gets the kind of careful, thorough, human care that's become increasingly rare.
I founded Hampton Physiotherapy in 2022 as the sole owner and operator, and I'm proud that it still runs the same way: every patient sees me, every appointment, for the full hour.
My Approach
I don't believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all treatment plans. I take time at the start of our work together to understand not just where you hurt, but why — using detailed biomechanical assessment to find the root cause of your symptoms rather than chasing pain from appointment to appointment.
Your care plan is built around your real life. That means your schedule, your finances, your family demands, your mental health, your other medical conditions, and your goals — whether that's getting back on stage, returning to running, recovering from surgery, or simply being able to pick up your kid without wincing.
I use a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, pain neuroscience education, activity modification, and other evidence-based techniques. I'll also collaborate with your other providers and advocate for you when needed.
“Not only is Hope Hampton super knowledgeable and absolutely relentless in trying to figure out my various conditions and the remedies...but, most importantly, she genuinely cares about the recovery of her clients. I’ve seen lots of medical professionals and I can honestly say no one has put in the effort and care that Hope has.”
Specialties & Certifications
I hold a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Idaho State University and completed Therapeutic Associates' orthopedic residency program. My advanced certifications include:
ABPTS Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS)
Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) — NAIOMT
Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) — Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy
Astym Certified Provider
Beyond musicians' rehabilitation, I work with people experiencing orthopedic injuries, cancer survivors, and those living with lymphedema. I believe a holistic approach — one that sees you as a whole person — leads to better outcomes and a more meaningful experience of care.
A Note on Inclusivity
Hampton Physiotherapy is a space where everyone is welcome. I provide care for patients of all races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and faiths — without judgment, without exception. If you've ever felt dismissed or uncomfortable in a healthcare setting, I want this to be different. You will always be treated with respect and dignity here.
Beyond the Clinic
When I'm not in the clinic, you'll find me trail running, hiking, biking, playing violin, or exploring Portland's restaurant & live music scenes. I also independently study piano, guitar, and voice — because once a musician, always a musician.
